Board Members
Executive Director: Eric Swithin served four years in the United States Marine Corps, received his BA in Economics from Rice University, and his Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. Eric is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Apologetics, Discipleship and Spiritual Formation at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Eric spent three years as a youth pastor before going full-time with Outdoor Adventures. Eric is a radical follower of Jesus who feels most at home when he is above treeline in the Rocky Mountains, so he goes there as frequently as he can. His heart's desire is to be a father to the fatherless, to guide boys into manhood and to help men encounter God by participating in His mission.
Chief Technical Officer: David Botterill served four years active duty in the United States Army then 18 years in the Army National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. David has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and 30+ years of experience in software engineering. He was overwhelmed when Eric told him about God’s work through Outdoor Adventures in 2015 and feels drawn to help the fatherless in any way he can. David’s life verse is, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” - Matthew 6:33"
After earning a degree in Education from Texas A&M, Steve Reid coached college football for 4 years. He then entered the banking world, serving numerous customers in several different communities. Blessed to retire in 2015, and being raised by a tremendous dad who did not have an earthly father active in his life, Steve has a personal interest in seeing the fatherless epidemic end in America. He loves everything outdoors and spends the majority of his time hunting, golfing, fishing, hiking, and flying airplanes.
VP of Risk Management/Secretary/Treasurer: Kameron Swithin received her BA in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis; she received her law degree from the University of Houston, where she was Executive Editor of Houston Law Review; and, she is also a certified mediator. She loves gazing at beautiful scenery with a cup of hot tea in her left hand and a good book in her right hand. She desires to glorify God through legal advocacy.
William Hernandez is a 2017 Walkabout graduate! He served as a junior leader during a 2018 Walkabout and served as a summer intern in 2020. He is an outdoor enthusiast who comes alive playing rugby. He currently attends Arkansas State University where he is majoring in Disaster Preparedness. He is a member of Arkansas State Campus Ministry and the Varsity Rugby Team.
Jake Bicknell currently resides in Southwest Colorado, but was raised in Syracuse, New York. He received his BA in Physical Education, with a Minor in Strengthening and Conditioning, from West Virginia University. He has always had a heart for teaching and coaching youth. Today, he serves as a summer wilderness guide for Outdoor Adventures and he serves regularly as a youth group leader. He loves passionately sharing the saving message of Jesus. He is a lifelong athlete and outdoorsman who believes strongly in the impact coaches, teams, and competition can have on youth.
Caleb Beaird is someone who loves nature and the peace it brings. He will be attending Wheaton College but is currently taking a gap year to discern his calling. He is seeking to discover how he was made so that he can most effectively pour out our Father's heart. Most importantly, he is a beloved son of God.
Allison Stewart has more than 25 years of ministry experience. Early in her ministry experience, she and her husband helped lead teens on backpacking trips to Colorado, which is when she fell in love with the mountains. She is married to Kade Stewart and has two beautiful girls, Maddie and Mia. They served as stateside missionaries at Camp Redcloud in Lake City, Colorado for ten years before moving to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She currently has the privilege of leading teenage girl backpacking trips with Outdoor Adventures. Her heart is to help God’s sons and daughters know they ARE sons and daughters. She wants to see them come alive and leave all of the foolishness of this world behind, so that they can truly live for the Lord. She desires that they would know how dearly they are loved by their Heavenly Father, regardless of what kind of earthly father or mother they have.
Scott Swanson is a retired Colonel who served 30 years in the US Army Reserves. He is currently employed by a Investor owned utility in Arizona where he manages Fedaral contracts and renewable resource generation projects. He is currently serving as a Deacon at Hi-Way Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ and also serves as the Band of Brothers adult ministry leader. Scott felt powerfly drawn to align with what God is doing through Outdoor Adventures and helping the fatherless. His life verse is to obey God rather than man by living a life of honesty, integrity, and unconditional love (Acts 5:29).
